Saw recently released
two Malayalam movies in theatre - Bangalore Days and How old are you? Also saw
drishyam which was released about six months ago by renting its CD from a diehard
Mohanlal fan. Though I am writing my reviews on the movies for the first time,
I felt like I should share my ideas of 3 most beautiful movies I saw recently.
How old are you?, Bangalore Days and Drishyam have blew my mind.
Drishyam, written and
directed by Jeethu Joseph released first in the list and the one that I saw
first time of all the three, was graced by the complete actor Mohanlal. I am
not sure whether any other actor could replicate the intricacies that a father,
seen everywhere in the villages of Kerala, hides in his face so well. A bow to
the script and the direction of Jeethu, I have already started seeing my dad
from a new angle of increase awe and respect. The bond and affection that a
traditional families in Kerala shares is amazingly plotted in this. A huge round
of applause for Meena, Asha Sharath and all the child artists for their
valuable contributions.
Bangalore Days, second
in the chart reminded me of my good all days during my cousins’ wedding. I
always used to cherish about my large family in my father’s side. Our family
from paternal side has 14 cousins. I and my younger brother were the youngest
among the 14 – the trouble makers. But the fun and enjoyment we had when all
the 14 were together can never be expressed in words or in other way those
feelings can never be scribbled into a paper. Anjali Menon mesmerized me with
her script and direction by helping me recollect these memories. The strong family bond that the youngsters
always cherish to their heart in Kerala is beautifully drawn in the movie. The
mediocre Malayali mother was beautiful handled by Kalpana.
Next in the list is How
Old are You? A ton thanks and respect to Roshan Andrews to have selected and
all the crew members to have cheered Manju for the bold step of re-entry. My
sincere and heart whelming thanks to
Bobby Sanjay for the wonderful script and Roshan Andrews for his direction
because I felt Kaniha was telling to me ee lokathu jeevichirunnu ennu oru
thelivu venam. oru signature avasheshippikathe kadannu pokanda oral alla nee”
(We should leave a trail to prove that there existed such a person like you.
You are not a person who has to pass away without leaving a signature in this
world). Thanks a lot, Bobby Sanjay for the wonderful inspiration.
It was a wonderful
experience seeing the three movies. Now I understand why my friends from other
states see Malayalam movies with awe. Yeah, it’s true. Malayalam movies always
draw about the real lives of common man. It touches the common chord and helps
in introspection. J J J
